2023 ATAR Results

Congratulations to the Class of 2023!

Congratulations to the Class of 2023 on their pleasing ATAR results*. The results, released by QTAC today, reflect the commitment of this resilient cohort to achieving their best, while supporting each other throughout their schooling journey. The College celebrates their success and gives thanks for the incredible breadth of their contribution to the Clayfield community.

The students worked diligently all year to achieve their personal and academic achievements. This is reflected in 50% of students achieving an ATAR greater than 90. Other significant academic achievements included:

  • Highest ATAR of 98.7
  • Median ATAR of 90.5
  • 78% achieved an A or B Grade within subjects
  • 15% of ATAR candidates obtained an ATAR greater than or equal to 97
  • 50% of ATAR candidates obtained an ATAR greater than or equal to 90
  • 19% students achieved VET Qualifications

Clayfield would also like to acknowledge two students for their individual achievements. Hannah McDonald is the ATAR DUX, obtaining the highest ATAR score across the Class of 2023. Impressively, she achieved A Grades across all of her subjects, with a perfect score in Music. Jasmine Fraser is the College DUX, achieving A Grades across all of her subjects including Biology, Digital Solutions, English, Mathematical Methods and Spanish.

The excellent results are also a reflection of the incredible work of the College’s dedicated teachers, who in partnership with the parents and carers of the Class of 2023, supported the students to ensure the best possible outcomes.

“On behalf of the Clayfield College community, I am delighted for the Class of 2023 and congratulate them on their outstanding personal and academic achievements,” said Principal, Dr Andrew Cousins. “There are truly no limits to what they can achieve, and I am thrilled to learn that a number of them have already been advised they can pursue their pathways of first choice.”

As an academically inclusive school, Clayfield celebrates diversity and creates a dynamic student-centric learning experience which fosters success by valuing the needs of all students. This, coupled with the College’s intentional wellbeing program, created an environment for the Class of 2023 to let their light shine across a diverse range of experiences and interests which included elite sports, music, the arts and academics.

The release of the 2023 ATAR results will likely coincide with the publishing of league tables by media outlets. As previously stated by Principal, Dr Andrew Cousins, “league tables are often a source of frustration and angst in the education community because they inevitably seek to classify schools by a set of data that does not capture a lot of what makes students and schools special”. At Clayfield, league tables are not a measure of academic performance and personal growth.

“I am incredibly proud of our Class of 2023 and look forward to hearing about the fulfilling lives they will lead and all the remarkable things they will accomplish,” said Principal, Dr Andrew Cousins.

The College’s Deputy Principal – Head of Teaching and Learning, Mrs Lakshmi Mohan reflected on the results of the Class of 2023 and stated “I am proud of our Year 12 students who sought extra feedback from our dedicated teachers, completed practice papers in the lead-up to their external exams, attended additional tutorials, listened to advice, and showed courage when faced with challenges. Their efforts have paid off!”

A summary of Clayfield’s 2023 ATAR success can be found in the Class of 2023 Spotlight publication.
